Configure syslog messages to be sent to an e-mail address

Enable syslog messages to be delivered as e-mails to designated recipients so administrators receive important system notifications directly through e-mail.

You can set up a list of recipients for syslog messages to be sent as e-mails.

Tip

If you are configuring devices to send syslog messages about security events (such as connection and intrusion events), most Firewall Threat Defense platform settings do not apply to these messages. See Firewall Threat Defense platform settings that apply to security event syslog messages.

Before you begin

Procedure

Step 1

Choose Devices > Platform Settings and create or edit the Firewall Threat Defense policy.

Step 2

Select Syslog > Email Setup.

Step 3

Specify the e-mail address that is used as the source address for syslog messages that are sent as e-mail messages.

Step 4

Click Add to enter a new e-mail address recipient of the specified syslog messages.

Step 5

Set the desired severity level for syslog messages for each recipient.

The severity filter ensures only messages of the specified level and higher are sent via e-mail. For information on the levels, see Syslog message severity levels.

Step 6

Click OK.

Step 7

Click Save.

You can now go to Deploy > Deploy and deploy the policy to assigned devices. The changes are not active until you deploy them.

Syslog messages are sent as e-mails to the specified recipients according to the configured severity level.
