Prerequisites for multicast routing over static tunnel virtual interface

  • Firewall Threat Defense device must be Version 10.1.

  • Management Center Essentials (formerly Base) license must allow export-controlled functionality. Choose Administration > Licenses > Smart Licenses to verify this in Management Center.

  • Ensure that you configure a Rendezvous Point (RP).

    RP IP address must be reachable throughout the multicast network.

  • Create static tunnel virtual interfaces (SVTIs) on the Firewall Threat Defense devices and configure a route-based VPN topology using these interfaces.

  • Configure basic routing and access control policies to route traffic between the SVTI tunnels.

    • Ensure that you have a multicast source sending traffic to the Firewall Threat Defense devices.

    • Ensure unicast routing is available between the multicast source and the receiver.

  • You do not have to configure security levels on the interfaces of the Firewall Threat Defense devices.
