Generate a new device template from an existing device

The new template has the same configuration as the device from which it is generated. You can generate a new device template from standalone and HA devices. However, if you generate a template from HA devices, the new template will not contain the failover configurations.

You can generate a new device template from a device that is registered with the Cloud-Delivered Firewall Management Center.

Follow these steps to generate a new device template from an existing device:

Procedure

Step 1

Choose Devices > Device Management.

Step 2

If you have enabled the new device management UI, select a device to open the side pane, and under Device actions, click Generate template from device. Otherwise, perform the next step. For more information, refer to Device management page enhancements.

Step 3

Click the More (more icon) icon, and click Generate Template from Device.

Step 4

In the Generate template from device window, enter a Name for the template.

Step 5

(Optional) Enter a Description for the template.

Step 6

Choose an Access Control Policy from the drop-down list.

Step 7

Click OK. To view the status of template creation, go to Notifications, and then click the Taskstab.

Step 8

Choose Devices > Template Management to view the newly created template.
