Instance interfaces

A chassis interface is a network connection point that

  • allows flexible assignment to instances through physical connections or VLAN subinterfaces,

  • enables sharing (physical or VLAN) between multiple instances for efficient resource use, and

  • restricts certain interface features (like subinterfaces or sharing) in multi-instance clusters, except for control links.

To provide flexible physical interface use for instances, you can create VLAN subinterfaces on the chassis and also share interfaces (VLAN or physical) between multiple instances. Refer to Shared interface scalability and Configure a subinterface.

Note
