Convert a Device to Multi-Instance Mode
Use this procedure to convert a device in the management center to multi-instance mode. The conversion takes approximately 15 minutes. The system reboots and, as part of changing the mode, erases the configuration with the exception of the Management network settings and the admin password. The chassis hostname is set to "firepower-model." The Management IP address is assigned to the chassis for the management connection with the management center. When you add instances, they will use separate IP addresses on the Management interface and maintain their own management connections.
After you convert to multi-instance mode, you can use the management center to configure all chassis settings as well as instances. The Secure Firewall chassis manager or configuration at the FXOS CLI is not supported.
Before you begin
Add the appliance-mode device to the management center as a standalone device. This device cannot use:
-
A data interface for manager access
-
DHCP for the Management interface
-
Zero-Touch Provisioning
